What Is SELANK?
Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide analogue of the endogenous tetrapeptide tuftsin (Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg), extended with the sequence Pro-Gly-Pro to improve metabolic stability. It has a molecular formula of C33H57N11O9 and a molecular weight of 751.86 g/mol.
Selank is used in vitro and in preclinical research primarily for its interactions with the GABAergic system and enkephalin-degrading enzymes. Studies have examined its effects on cytokine expression profiles and its resistance to enzymatic degradation in plasma models. It has been used as a research tool in neuropharmacological investigations.
